Fayette County Career & Technical Institute (CTI) received a $1.5 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to construct a 6,000-square-foot Health Sciences Workforce Development Center on its campus—supplemented by $750,000 in local funding. This new facility was designed to enhance space for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program and support additional medical training, including medical assistant and surgical technician tracks.

The construction work began around early 2023, with projected completion in spring 2024. The building’s purpose is to expand CTI’s healthcare program offerings, provide better learning environments for post-secondary education, and strengthen pathways into local healthcare careers.
